The Beyerdynamic Amiron over-ear headphones sound every bit as amazing as they feel, especially now that they’re on sale. The award-winning 2021 Beyerdynamic’s wired over-ears are superb sounding headphones that can defy the trend.
The device we are talking about is the £545 Beyerdynamic Amiron home headphones that we reviewed, as well as awarded a coveted five stars. Since then, their price has been reduced to £499, but head over to Sevenoaks immediately and pay just £389 — a staggering £110 off their previous price and £156 off its debut price!
The Amiron home has an open-back, circumaural design with a 250-ohm impedance, making it simple to use with today’s mobile devices. These dynamical driver headphones are touted to have a frequency response of 5Hz to 40kHz. These headphones offered some of the strongest and most authoritatively clear basses users experienced from a headset for under $1,000.
The Amiron home is compatible with headphone amplifiers. The provided cable includes a threaded collar that fits snugly over the included 1/4-inch adaptor, which has a connected female receptacle for a secure fit.
Despite the lack of leather, the ear cups and headbands are velvety. They’re constructed of Alcantara microfiber and micro velour, which are both soft. The ear pad materials, according to Beyerdynamic, have moisture-regulating and temperature-balancing properties.
The Amiron home headphones are unapologetically audiophile. The earplugs are so enormous that they dance around your cheeks’ edges. That vastness pays off handsomely in the form of a deep, expansive soundstage that more nearly mimics that of free-standing speakers.
The Tesla technology from Beyerdynamic is at the core of the Amiron house. Beyerdynamic claims that the eponymous technology, named after the legendary engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla, provides a clean reproduction, powerful magnetic drive, and minimal total harmonic distortion, all of which improve the headphones’ performance.
Just keep in mind that because the large ear cups do not fold, the kit is somewhat large. If you wish to take these cans out of the house, plan on putting them in a suitcase or backpack.
Another thing to consider is that these are wired headphones only. But, they are worth it! The supplied 3.0-meter rubber-coated wire is ideal for hooking into a computer or home headphone amp while relaxing in your comfy chair.
Nevertheless, due to its thickness and length, it is difficult to walk with or transport on the road. However, a shorter, 1.4-meter cable may be ordered directly from Beyerdynamic for $105.
As long as you realize that these are open-back headphones, which ‘leak’ sound so that others may hear it as well, the upside is that your music will sound larger and more spacious.
Beyerdynamic set out to create a headphone that could deliver audiophile-quality to today’s portable devices, and they were successful. And the fact that your preferred audio will sound louder is a clear plus for these headphones, as their audio quality is outstanding.
