The Aufero Laser 1 with it array of accessories and the choice of 3 laser heads is a very affordable pick.
The customer support and community support combined with the ease of set up makes this and easy choice in Laser engravers.

In the early days of laser engraving devices the barrier to owning one was the very high price. The cost was just prohibitive for most people.

The good news is that there is now a perfect laser engraver for people starting out in the laser engraving space. The Ortur Aufero Laser 1 is a surprisingly good price with all the features you need when starting out in laser engraving.

Ortur are not new to laser engraving having been formed by a group of talented engineers in 2018. They have also release the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro this year which levels up the engraving game even further.

The basic sizing of the Ortur is 180mm x 180mm which is plenty for what most people engrave. Keep in mind this isn’t a commercial size unit. There isn’t a lot you can’t engrave at that size for personal or even small things you plan to sell.

Competition – Aufero Laser 1 VS Neje Master 2S

There aren’t too many competitors directly in this space. There are some packaged options but in the long run you’re probably going to want the extendability the Aufero Laser 1 offers.

If you are comparing the Neje Master 2S to the Aufero Laser 1 the differences come down to safety.

Aufero Laser 1 is armed with the OLM-PRO-V1.2 Motherboard. This is a more advanced laser motherboard from Ortur and it has more features:

  1.  If has a power control system you need to shut down the machine it cuts the power to it too.
  2. There is no sparking from the power unit
  3. Windows OS driver free
  4. It has a faster calculation speed and MCU (micro controller unit)
  5. Supports expansion (such as: digital laser module. If you open the enclosure the laser is paused.
  6. The overall mechanical foundation and structure, which is cantilevered, has been improved from experience with previous models.

Laser Options

There are 3 optional laser modules for this engraver.

1: LU-2-2 – this module is perfect for fine detail work

2: LU-2-4-SF – this module is stronger and perfect for engraving harder materials (Short Focus)

3: LU-2-4-LF – this module is higher power again and is perfect for longer range tasks including precision cutting (Long Range)

The main cantilevered frame and motor are exactly the same for all three of these modules. You can choose the laser fitting based on the work you are planning to do.

The Aufero Laser 1 is the most advanced motherboard and firmware from Ortur. This motherboard ensures the best processing speed, realistic grayscale and engraving accuracy of your laser engraving artworks.

Computer compatibility

You don’t need to worry about compatibility with your computer unless you’re still running Windows 7, which is so unlikely in 2021.

Is this a new device? Is there a risk in being an early adopter?

The motherboard on this device is already in it’s 9th generation so the answer to that question is no. Ortur continue to evolve and improve on their devices which includes the firmware, software and hardware.

Laser engraving requires you to adhere to general safety guidelines. These are lasers so you need to protect your eyes, body and surroundings.

The Aufero Laser 1 is packed with safety first features.

1: Active Position Protection – if the laser base is moved or tilted in anyway during operation the laser will automatically stop.

  • Flame detector with Audible Alarm – if the laser detects any flames it will sound an audible alarm with a visual alert light
