The beautifully crafted R2 music system lineup of Ruark Audio has just got its 4th Generation member – The R2 MK4. It would be hard for you to find any fault in the earlier generations of this all-in-one music system series.
But Ruark Audio seems to have raised the bar even higher with the MK4. With the MK4, Ruark Audio has dialed up the sophistication level of these all-in-one systems with an ultra-strong “bonded glass” display and a Japanese-inspired slatted wood grill.
The display glass has been strengthened to lower the chances of it getting shattered due to impacts. On the other hand, the Japanese-inspired slatted wooded grille is there to make the R2 MK4 look unique and eye-catching.
But that is not all that Ruark Audio has in store for the 4th Generation R2. The all-new music system is much slimmer than the MK3 and, in fact, it is 20 percent thinner than its predecessor.
Thanks to the small design, you should not face any issues fitting the new MK4 on your windowsill. Furthermore, the system sports a USB-C port that supports charging and playback. The Mk4 also has compatibility with FM, DAB+, and internet tuners with pre-sets.
The Mk4 comes with Bluetooth, letting you pair up the music system with any mobile device. Moreover, there is a proper headphone out port and an AUX in port.
That means you will have plenty of options regarding the audio source. The traditional ‘RotoDial’ is on the top of the MK4. And it seems like the new R2 has got an upgrade in terms of the display. It is now a color LCD screen.
On that note, Ruark Audio has stopped short of integrating voice controls. However, the brand says that it will be possible to control the new R2 with the UNDOK app from Frontier Silicon.
Alternatively, you can just get the optional remote. But do consider the fact that the optional remote will cost extra.
Wondering what the audio quality is going to be like? Ruark Audio has a history of producing excellent all-in-one music systems.
And from first impressions, it seems like the R2 Mk4 will not be an exception. In fact, the amazing dynamics of the R2 MK3 have made the device get five stars in most of the reviews.
Let’s not forget that the NaturalSound+ drivers are well-capable of offering high-end performance.
So when do you get your hands on the R2 Mk4? It is set to release in October and is available in two different finishes: Espresso lacquer with walnut grille and Light Cream lacquer with ash grille.
