The Apple AirPods Pro 2 might amaze pretty much everyone with its new Adaptive Transparency feature. In fact, for many, this new tech is the key reason behind getting the new buds.

Well, it seems like Apple could be making the same feature available on the original AirPods Pro. In the latest iOS beta version, which is 16.1 beta, there is a switch for Adaptive Transparency for the 1st Gen of AirPods Pro.

That is basically what made many believe that the same Adaptive Transparency mode available in the 2nd Gen will come to the 1st Gen of AirPods Pro.

However, you should note that there has not been any official announcement from Apple. And as it is available in the beta version of iOS, it would be safe to say that the feature is in the testing phase.

That said, the standard Transparency mode in the 1st Gen works a little differently than the Adaptive version in the 2nd Gen.

The tech of the 1st Gen attempts to precisely simulate the environmental sounds when you have the buds on your ear.

On the other hand, the 2nd Gen does the same thing, but it makes the loud noises less damaging to the ear. It dials down the volume of the noises at 85 dB and above.

One of the reasons why the new Adaptive Transparency mode excels in converting loud sounds is the new H2 chip. It does all of the necessary calculations and allows the mode to work flawlessly.

As you might know, the 1st Gen AirPods Pro has an H1 chip. And there is no clear indication regarding how Apple will manage to make it work like the H2 chip for bringing the new feature to the 1st Gen.

There is a possibility that Apple has streamlined and updated the relevant algorithms to make the feature work on the H1 chip. However, many believe that the feature will not work as flawlessly as it does on the 2nd Gen.

But will it even work as it should? Based on the reports, the Adaptive Transparency mode works appropriately in the 1st Generation.

However, there is no detailed comparison with the new AirPods Pro. So, if you are still holding onto the 1st Gen buds, you would want to wait a bit if the new Adaptive Transparency is the only thing you liked about the 2nd Gen.

Also, if you are a little adventurous and want to try out the feature on your own, you could just update your iOS to the latest beta version. Along with that, you will need to make the AirPods Pro 1st Gen get into beta firmware.
