LED lights are the latest and greatest in lighting technology – still rapidly developing to this very day. You’ve probably first noticed them becoming commonplace in your local markets while shopping for light bulbs or when you saw a light that seemed brighter than usual.

From lighting homes, to businesses, to even movie sets, here’s why LED lights are better than traditional lights and are being adopted so widely.

Saving Energy

First and foremost, LED lights are incredibly energy efficient in comparison to other forms of lighting—fundamentally changing the future of lighting for this reason alone.

By replacing all your home’s light bulbs with LEDs, you’ll see a difference in your energy bills. Incandescent lighting simply can’t keep up, and by replacing incandescent lighting, we’ll be able to save an incredible amount of energy in the future.

Make it a smart LED bulb and you can also control and automate plenty of lighting functions around your house.

I have my LED lights turn on and off when I enter and exit a room automatically via my smart home hub.

This tends to mean less time the lights are on.

LED lights are better than traditional ones, thanks to how they function. The LED itself is as small as a grain of salt. Still, it emits an incredible amount of light that designers can manipulate to appear in any color, all while emitting minimal amounts of heat, creating a much safer bulb.

Furthermore, LEDs can emit light in specific directions. This makes LEDs much simpler than other lights that require reflectors and diffusers to direct and trap light.

I recently swapped out all my ceiling lights for LED lights and not only did the power bill go down, but it meant I could add insulation in the roof and lie it across the back of the LED light pots as they don’t generate enough heat to cause a fire risk.

The last significant benefit distinguishing LED lighting from the rest is how long it lasts. LEDs last three to five times longer than CFL lights and 30 times longer than incandescent lighting. This helps keep up with demand, reduces how often you’ll need to buy new bulbs, and reduces the amount of waste generated because they burn out slower.

As you can see by now, LED lights are an unmatched lighting technology through the benefits they can provide.

So, LEDs are quickly replacing CFL and incandescent lighting, and that’s a good thing.

All my studio lights are LED, the ones I use for photography and filming and they are versatile, colors can easily be adjusted to suit the filing set, and they are low power so are good to run on batteries for a time.
