Swiss manufacturer Niedal Audio Lab has just dropped a brand-new DAC, the Merason Reuss DAC. It will be joining the ever-growing converter lineup of Merason.

As Daniel Frauchiger, the CEO and brand owner, says, “Our passion for music drives us each day, and our new Reuss provides the purist musical quality and experience at an impressive price. A ‘must have’ for all Audiophiles.”

If you’re caught up with the past releases from the brand, you may have noticed that the Reuss naming is new to the lineup. According to Niedal Audio Lab, the name is inspired by the famous river that’s situated in Switzerland.

Nonetheless, the Merason Reuss DAC follows the recently released DAC1 MK II release from the Neidal Audio Lab. But with this release, the Swiss brand has made a powerful DAC model more affordable to the masses.

Available in black and silver, the DAC comes with a slim aluminum housing. There’s a solid front panel, which makes the model sleek. And the slim nature of the unit will make integration in different setups easier.

No matter what, you won’t have any complaints regarding the build quality of the Merason Reuss DAC. Neidal Audio Lab has manufactured it in the Switzerland manufacturing facility in Burgdorf. During the manufacturing process, the brand followed strict quality processes and controls.

Besides, the SMD components of the Merason Reuss DAC are the same as the Merason DAC1 MK II. It comes with a printed circuit board, which is responsible for the conversion.

That board also takes part in buffering. It comes with a 6-layer construction, which helps it to prevent interference.

All of the power elements of the Merason Reuss DAC are cooled directly through the chassis. In other words, the DAC features passive cooling.

Neidal Audio Lab has selected the components for the DAC based on the sound characteristics. The team has also measured the performance by putting the listening aspect as the final arbiter.

Moreover, the Merason Reuss DAC comes with the proven Burr Brown PCM1794A chipset. It is responsible for the conversion, and it delivers the “highest dynamic range.”

Like all the other Merason offerings, the circuit topology of the Reuss DAC is symmetrical. That means there are a total of four independent channels. The individual power supplies of the DAC have a linear structure.

They have three transformers that are responsible for supplying power to the digital and analog circuits.

For the standby mode, the unit utilizes a switching power supply. And it is completely deactivated during operation. That eliminates the chances of interference.

Among the inputs, the Merason Reuss DAC comes with one SPDIF in RCA and in Toslink. There are USB Audio Class 2.0 and AES available too.
