Sony has finally revealed when the PlayStation Pulse Explore earbuds and the Pulse Elite headset will hit the shelves. While Sony announced the accessories in August of this year, the official release date was unknown then.
As some of you may have expected, Sony will start taking pre-orders from this month. To be exact, the pre-orders for the new Pulse series PlayStation accessories will start on November 9th.
That means customers from the US, UK, and Europe will be able to sign up to get the Sony PlayStation Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite in just a couple of days.
However, the customers pre-ordering the new accessories will need to wait for about a month. The Sony PlayStation Pulse Explore earbuds and Pulse Elite headset will be hitting the shelves on December 6th.
For those wondering, the Pulse Explore is Sony’s first take on offering a pair of gaming wireless earbuds under the PlayStation branding. As Sony announced back in August, the wireless earbuds come with AI-enhanced noise rejection.
In addition, the wireless buds will come with lossless audio. That’s something you hardly see in some of the gaming-centric earbuds that are on the market.
On the other hand, the Pulse Elite headset comes with the same features but also has a retractable boom mic. The wireless earbuds employ wired and wireless charging, while the headset will bundle with a charging hanger.
But what’s really important is that the Sony PlayStation Pulse Explore and Elite are slated to be the first accessories from PlayStation with custom-designed planar magnetic drivers.
According to Sony, these drivers will deliver an audiophile-grade audio experience. Sony usually reserves such features for its high-end audio offerings. For example, the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Sony WF-1000XM5.
In addition, both the new PlayStation Pulse audio accessories will come with a PlayStation Link USB Adapter. This adapter enables the new wireless earbuds and headset to connect to a broad range of devices.
That includes PCs, Macs, and, most importantly, PlayStation 5. Moreover, the new headset and earbuds will let users connect to Bluetooth-enabled devices.
This makes the new PlayStation Pulse offerings great for mobile gamers. On that note, the wide compatibility of the new offerings means that you won’t be stuck with one platform.
Regarding the pricing info, the PlayStation Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore aim to deliver value. With lossless audio support and custom planar magnetic drivers, it’ll be hard for others to compete against these new wireless audio solutions.
Also, it’s worth noting that these are not the first gaming-centric audio offerings. But it will surely be interesting to see how they compare against the WF-1000XM5 and WH-CH720N.
