There’s no denying that the Sony WF-1000XM4 has been at the top of the leaderboards ever since it got released. However, the time has come for Sony to release the next flagship wireless earphone.
And according to what the recent news suggests, the Sony WF-1000XM5 might be just a couple of months away. So, what does the recent information about the WF-1000XM5 has to say?
Sony has just made a new wireless earphone pass the FCC certification. And from what it seems like, the new earbuds are the upcoming XM5. Don’t know what FCC stands for and what it does?
FCC, also known as Federal Communications Commission, is the US government department that regulates all communication devices within the United States.
All the new earphones need to pass their certification to enter the market. Now, there filling of the Sony WF-1000XM5 does not really give much info about the internal components.
In fact, it does not even give any performance detail about the upcoming earphones. However, as the earbuds have passed FCC, there is a high chance that Sony will release them sooner than expected.
In fact, the short-term confidentiality end date is on 22 August 2023. That means after this date, all of the details about the Sony WF-1000XM5 will be exposed to the public.
However, it is natural for firms to make this way later than the actual planned launch date. That is, most want to stay on the safe side in case of any delays.
Take the Sony WH-1000XM5, for example. The wireless headphones had a confidentiality end date of 8 August 2022. However, Sony announced the pair of headphones in May 2022.
Another thing that you should note is that the Sony WF-1000XM4 came out back in June 2022. So, there’s a chance that Sony might do the same thing with the WF-1000XM5.
Nonetheless, we managed to get some info from the FCC filing of the Sony WF-1000XM5. The upcoming earbuds will come with Bluetooth 5.3, which is the latest Bluetooth version available in the tech world.
And interestingly, that piece of info was not directly mentioned in the filing. Instead, it stated that the wireless frequency range of the Sony WF-1000XM5 is between 2.402 and 2.48 GHz.
And that frequency range matches perfectly with Bluetooth 5.3. Other than that, the filing suggests that the WF-1000XM5 will feature a touch panel on the buds, the same panels from the last gen earbuds.
The filing also shows an image on the charging case, which might be a temporary image and might not make it to the commercial unit of the Sony WF-1000XM5.
Besides that, nothing is known about Sony’s upcoming flagship earphones. But we are hoping that more details will emerge as time goes by.
