Acoustic Energy has debuted a brand-new premium floor-standing speaker, the Acoustic Energy Corinium. Deemed to be the most significant loudspeaker from the company yet, Corinium was designed to offer an optimal middle-sized floor stander.
The speaker comes with mid and high-frequency drivers, which are positioned roughly at the ear height. They work with a dual subwoofer section, which lies further down on the cabinet.
According to the brand, the configuration Acoustic Energy Corinium brings a blend of what floor-standing and standmount speakers excel at. That is, providing excellent dynamics and stellar expressions.
The new speaker offers all that while driving the larger spaces with room-filling sound. To be exact, the sound capabilities of the speaker are more than a traditional floor-stander.
If you’re wondering what the naming is all about, Acoustic Energy wanted to pay respect to the Roman history of a town named Corinium. It was once one of the most important in England that’s situated outside London.
That said, the price tag of the Acoustic Energy Corinium is a little higher than Acoustic Energy’s Spendor A7 speakers. That pair received a 5-star rating and was recommended by most reviewers.
But the increase in price should also bring improvement in terms of performance. However, the Spendor A7 is already regarded as one of the best floorstanders in the market. Seeing how far Acoustic Energy can push with the new release will be interesting.
Talking of which, Acoustic Energy Corinium comes with a 29mm tweeter. Acoustic Energy made it with a new soft-dome material.
On the other hand, the 120mm mid-range driver and the two 140mm bass drivers are made of carbon fiber cones. The new material on the 29mm tweeter aims to enhance the overall audio performance of the speaker.
The cabinets on the Acoustic Energy Corinium come with a four-degree tilt. According to the brand, this tilt in the design improves the time alignment of the audio.
These cabinets are made with a ‘Resonance Suppression Composite’ with a thickness of up to 4.5cm. Along with the 6mm ultra-rigid aluminum baffle, the material of the cabinets is said to keep the drivers isolated and secure.
When the cabinet resonance is low, the Acoustic Energy Corinium will naturally produce faithful and detail-rich sound.
Besides, the new Corinium is quite a hefty model. The speakers weigh 40 kg, and they stand 110cm tall. And in terms of power, they are rated for 200W at 4 Ohms.
But when can you try these speakers out? Well, the Acoustic Energy Corinium will be available next month and will arrive in four cabinet finishes. They are natural wood veneer, white, black, or metallic British Racing Green.
