The Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S1 has a lot of shortcomings. That might be the only reason you might not have heard about the Pi7 series.
Featuring Bluetooth 5.0 with Qualcomm aptX Technology, and dual hybrid drivers with individual amplifiers, the B&W PI7 true wireless headphones ensure allow high fidelity 24-bit streaming from your phone, tablet, or computer
But the brand did not stop the series right there. Instead, it worked on the flaws and brought out the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2. And from what it seems, the earbuds are a great AirPods Pro 2 rival.
Though the audio specialist has also revealed a new iteration of the Pi5 series, the Pi7 basically has the highlight.
But what makes the Pi7 S2 so great that they challenge the Apple AirPods Pro 2? Well, looks-wise, the new buds did not change that much.
They still come with raised semi-circular outer case housing and round sides. The other case housing of the buds has capacitive touch controls.
Thanks to that, you will be able to quickly change the volume and control the playback without taking out your phone.
In fact, the only difference that is setting the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 apart is the color options. The buds come in Midnight Blue, Canvas White, and Satin Black.
On that note, the Pi5 S2 shares the same story. It, too, has a similar outlook as the previous iteration except for the color options. Those buds come in Sage Green, Spring Lilac, and Cloud Grey color options.
Nonetheless, Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 fixed the biggest issue that was present in the original Pi7. These buds have significantly improved the connectivity issues that were present in the first iteration.
And in case you didn’t know, the Pi7 had the tendency to drop out even in non-busy signal areas.
So, how much of a difference did the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 make? The firm has re-engineered the parts of the buds by focusing strictly on connectivity issues.
According to a B&W spokesperson, “We’re always looking to make a better product. We have re-engineered the caps at the end of the earbuds to improve antenna performance.”
Besides that, design-wise, the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 has a slightly more premium look than the Pi5 S2. And that is a given, considering the fact that the Pi7 S2 is the flagship offering of B&W.
Specs-wise, the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 goes all out in the sound department. The buds come with Qualcomm aptX Adaptive codec support and beefed-up 9.2 mm drivers.
That means you will be able to fully enjoy high-res music streams from services such as Tidal and Apple Music.
The buds also have two Adaptive ANC modes and can offer up to five hours of listening time. And with the charging case, the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 can offer 16 additional hours of runtime.
