The KEF architectural speakers lineup is welcoming two additions. With the Ci5160REFM-THX and the Ci3160REFM-THX, the whole lineup is now more comprehensive than ever before.

And as the name suggests, the two new speakers will be the first-ever THX-certified architectural speakers from KEF.

To be exact, the KEF Ci5160REFM-THX is the first THX-certified Dominus speaker. On the other hand, the KEF Ci3160REFM-THX is a THX-certified Ultra speaker from KEF.

In case you missed it, the Reference series of KEF has been around since 1973. The lineup has been seeing a steady evolution ever since.

With the addition of digital technologies, KEF has been marking its way to the leaderboards. Well, the case is pretty much the same with the new Ci-Reference speakers.

These new KEF architectural speakers come with a 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array. Combined with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MATTM), the drivers of the speakers see a heavy optimization.

Specifically, the KEF optimized the bass drivers for in-wall use, while their aluminum baffle can significantly eliminate vibration.

Getting back to the new speakers, the KEF Ci5160REFM-THX is the first in-wall unit from the brand that sports THX Dominus certification. This certification makes the speaker optimal for rooms as large as 6500 ft with a viewing distance of up to 20 feet.

The THX Ultra certification found in the KEF Ci3160REFM-THX is pretty similar. The certification ensures the speakers have undergone hundreds of performances and quality tests.

It also assures that the speakers can create a high-impact cinema sound in a large room. To be specific, the THX Ultra certification states that the KEF Ci3160REFM-THX is optimal for rooms of up to 3000 cubic feet in size with a viewing distance of 12 feet.

In other words, the speakers will enable you to recreate a quality cinema experience right in your home.

With the new KEF architectural speakers, the brand is going strong with its concept. That is, ‘Hide your speakers, not your sound.’ So you will not find it hard to get discreet installation on both speakers.

Even if you do not find ways to hide them completely, their build will make sure that the speakers blend well.

Speaking of which, both the Ci5160REFM-THX and Ci3160REFM-THX come in an Aluminum Black/Grey finish on the exterior. And KEF has opened the doors to make the metal grills look as you want them to.

In other words, the new KEF architectural speakers have paintable magnetic grilles. So, if you don’t like how they look initially, you will have the complete freedom to change them.
