It’s been a month since I upgraded my home audio setup with the Takstar TAK35 condenser microphone. It’s a fantastic microphone for anyone looking to upgrade their setup without breaking the bank.

But how did I end up choosing this microphone? Here’s a quick backstory.

I’ve been using the Samson Go microphone for several years now. My wife broke her headset microphone and needed a new one so I thought it was time for an upgrade. She’ll get the Samson Go after.

I searched online for several affordable condenser microphones and saw options from popular brands such as the Audio Technica AT-2020.

However, I couldn’t justify the $100 price tag since I just use the microphone for Skype calls and video conferences. Yes, I do stream sometimes but I don’t think I need a $100 condenser microphone.

That’s when I discovered the Tasktar TAK 35 which only costs a fraction of the price.

I made the purchase and used it for a month before writing this full review. I’ll be going over the pros and cons to help you decide if this is something you should buy. Let’s get to it!

Takstar TAK35

Takstar TAK35

TL:DR;

The Takstar TAK35 condenser microphone is an excellent microphone for those who are on a budget. It’s perfect for streamers who don’t want to splurge on a microphone but want to get the most value from their purchase.

This microphone produces a clear sound that’s perfect for recording, streaming, or video conferences. It lacks extra features such as different polar patterns but for its price, it’s still worth considering.

It’s an all-in-one solution for your audio needs. Just make sure that you have an audio interface and you’re good to go.

With a compact and portable design, the Samson Go is a great ultra-budget option for those who want crisp and clear audio quality.

Design and Durability

The Takstar TAK 35 condenser microphone has great build quality.

The microphone feels sturdy and durable which is far from other affordable microphones. It can easily withstand regular use. In fact, I already dropped it once while attaching it to my mic stand and it still works perfectly.

The body is made of aluminum which gives it a professional look. However, the included shock mount is made of plastic.

The design of this microphone is nothing special. It’s a microphone and that’s it.

There are no buttons or switches – just a female XLR plug at the bottom. There’s very little you can do with it unless you try to make it look unconventional like the Blue Yeti Snowball.

Besides the shock mount and windscreen, you get an owner’s manual and nothing else. There’s no carrying pouch or XLR cable included.

Sound Quality

The Takstar TAK 35’s strength lies in its audio quality considering its affordable price range. My voice comes out clearly and there are minimal distortions.

My point of comparison is the Samson Go since it’s my previous microphone and they’re in the same price bracket.

I could say that the TAK35 has clear and crisp audio with an emphasis on the low end. The sound quality has a great low end and midrange without sacrificing the highs.

The included steel filter helps in reducing poppy sounds. However, it’s still better if you use a third-party filter since the included one only covers a portion of the microphone.

The cardioid feature works really well since it doesn’t pick up my AC or fan that’s positioned to my side. It does pick up my keyboard and mouse because they’re situated just below the microphone.

However, you can easily remove the noise through post-processing or using some applications, such as Nvidia Broadcast.

Unlike its more expensive sibling the TAK55, the Takstar TAK35 has no gain and mode switches. All you have to do is plug it in and you’re good to go.

Can it compete against more expensive microphones?

The Takstar TAK35, without a doubt, has great audio quality but it lacks features that can be found on more expensive microphones. For a budget streaming or work microphone, I have no complaints. It gets the job done and it does it quite well.

Value

For less than $80, the Takstar TAK35 condenser microphone offers exceptional value for its price.

Considering its impressive specifications and performance, it stands out as an affordable option for both beginners and experienced users.

This microphone is comparable to other models in this price range. Some options from other brands often fall short in terms of build quality or audio performance, but the TAK35 excels in both aspects.

With its solid construction, versatile features, and excellent sound quality, this microphone exceeds expectations and is definitely a bang-for-the-buck option.

But wait, there’s another microphone lurking if you have a higher budget.

The Takstar TAK55 is another great option if you don’t mind spending just a tiny bit more. Just like the TAK35, it offers great audio quality but it has more features.

The TAK55 has three different polar patterns and a sensitivity attenuation switch. It also has a low-cut switch for reducing background noise.

Using the Takstar TAK 35 With No XLR Audio Interface

The Takstar TAK35 will work without an XLR audio interface but you need to have a USB 48V phantom power cable. You can purchase this type of cable for less than $20 and you’ll be able to use the TAK35 directly with your computer.

The downside of not using an XLR audio interface is the lack of controls. Since the Takstar TAK35 doesn’t have gain control, you’re stuck with the default pick-up values.

If you have an XLR audio interface, you’ll be able to control the gain and other audio aspects.

Final Thoughts

The Takstar TAK 35 condenser microphone is a reliable and high-performing choice for beginners and recording enthusiasts.

It has a sleek design, solid build quality, and great audio capabilities. The recording experience is no slouch either. It can capture quick audio recordings without interference and I only had to do minimal tweaks for it to be usable.

Whether you are a streamer, podcaster, vocalist, or musician, the Takstar TAK 35 delivers quality audio. Sure, there are drawbacks such as the lack of controls but that can easily be remedied.
