Apple’s AirPods Pro is the company’s most expensive TWS earphones. This year, Apple is likely to release the second-generation AirPods Pro, which will have significant enhancements over the original.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the second generation AirPods Pro will feature a new design, more outstanding audio quality, and possible health integration.

In the Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, the Apple AirPods Pro could be released this fall. He claims that the existing model has been on the market since the fall of 2019 and that certain early users have already experienced battery failure.

He also mentioned that the Apple AirPods Max over-the-ear earbuds might be available in more colors.

Mark Gurman also claims that Apple focuses on new AirPods Max colors and a redesign. Apple’s over-the-ear ANC headphones now come in five color variations, so it is a little surprising that the company is expanding its color palette.

The existing AirPods Pro, on the other hand, is only available in white and could use some color diversity, even if it is simply black.

The AirPods Pro, which was first released in 2019, will be three years old this year, and some rumors have stated that they will be released later this year.

Last year, Apple was expected to release the second-generation AirPods Pro, but it never happened. Gurman’s projection for Autumn 2022 is consistent with Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s prior report, which predicted a fall 2022 introduction for the second-generation AirPods Pro.

Even though Apple’s initial version of the AirPods Pro was released in October 2019, the AirPods Pro is still competitive with other wireless earbuds.

However, even Gurman admits that the original earphones’ battery life may be deteriorating. Unfortunately, once the batteries in wireless earphones run out, the earbuds themselves are rendered useless.

Meanwhile, Apple’s normal AirPods, which were released in October, are on their third iteration. According to TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the speculated advancements for the second-generation AirPods Pro is that it would allow lossless audio playback.

There are also reports that the upgraded AirPods Pro may delete the stems and include additional fitness tracking and health management functions (though that seems unlikely).

We are quite unsure if Apple plans to make the upgraded AirPods Max enable lossless playback. According to the newsletter, Apple is not planning any significant enhancements to the AirPods Max, opting instead for a fresh appearance and more colors.

However, Mark Gurman laments the AirPods Max’s “absurd” high price tag and hopes for a price reduction for the new version. We have to agree that the price is prohibitively high, yet there is no evidence that Apple will reduce the cost.
