Earlier this year, the Wharfedale Elysian 3 first appeared at the High End Munich 2023 show. However, the floor-standing speaker was not official yet.
Well, the time has come for the Elysian 3 to make its official debut. It’s now a member of Wharfedale’s floor-standing range in its catalog. But what’s the big deal about the Elysian 3?
Essentially, the Wharfedale Elysian 3 is a premium and compact floor-standing mode that bridges the gap between the top-range Elysian 4 and the stand-mounting speaker Elysian 2.
The Wharfedale Elysian 3 offers the same three-way configuration as the Elysian 4. It also comes with a four-driver arrangement as the top-end model.
However, it is not as humongous as the high-end floor-stander model. That makes the speaker the perfect pick for a setup with space limitations.
To be specific, the dimensions of the Wharfedale Elysian 3 are 105 cm x 26 cm x 28.5 cm. Compared to the Elysian 4, Wharfedale claims that the new mode is 11 percent shorter and 1/3 smaller in terms of depth and width of the top-end model.
But do not let the size of the Wharfedale Elysian 3 fool you. According to Wharfedale, even though the floor-standing speaker is small in size, it still offers a similar scale of sound as the Elysian 4.
Under the hood, you will find a 27 x 90 mm Air Motion Transformer (AMT). The same AMT is present in the entire range of Elysian.
This AMT was specifically developed to deliver the highest possible accuracy and efficiency, two of the most crucial components to enjoy true HiFi music.
In addition, there’s a woven glass fiber matrix midrange driver, which is 15cm in size. It is identical to the one found inside the Elysian 2.
To complete the set, Wharfedale Elysian 3 includes twin 18cm bass drivers with the same glass fiber matrix construction. They are smaller than the 22cm cones used in the Elysian 4.
The Elysian 3 comes with an advanced version of the brand’s own slot-loaded port too. It is on the bottom of the cabinet and the integrated plinth.
Wharfedale claimed this design allows the air to be “dispersed uniformly in the room.” That will eventually allow you to place the Wharfedale Elysian 3 anywhere you want in the room.
Besides, the Wharfedale has given the cabinet and crossover designs of the Elysian 3 the same forensic treatment as the others of the range.
Wharfedale says that it engaged in “hours of listening tests to ensure a seamless blend between the drive units.” So, expect a redefined audio experience from the floor-standing speaker pair.
