The high-end HiFi distributor, Absolute Sounds, is now distributing Metaxas & Sins TR-X Tourbillon and Papillon reel-to-reel analog tape machines.
These machines are getting added to the Ten Collection of the HiFi brand. And Ricardo Franassovici has selected all of the highly individual reel-to-reel tape machines for the series.
Now, who is Ricardo Franassovici? He is the founder and MD of Absolute Sounds. Furthermore, you might be wondering what the Ten Series is all about. Actually, it is a curated collection that is from independent makers.
The series sits along with the main portfolio of Absolute Sounds. As explained by the founder of Absolute Sounds, the time is right for the brand to distribute these reel-to-reel tape machines. First of these devices have been carried by the company since its formation that is, in 1979.
The founder also stated, “There are two important reasons why I have selected these Metaxas & Sins tape machines to join the Ten Collection. The first is that thanks to a number of specialist suppliers, the increased availability of the reel-to-reel format to consumers makes it a viable – and highly satisfying – medium for music connoisseurs.”
He added, “The second – and crucial – factor is that Metaxas & Sins has succeeded in elevating the sound quality from open-reel tape to new levels, wrapped in a package that exudes individuality and flair. Unique, exceptional, highly desirable – these are perfect additions to my Ten Collection.”
The main distribution portfolio of Absolue Sounds comprises 22 high-end audio manufacturers. All of them are from different places in the world. And for several decades, some of them have been distributed exclusively by Absolute Sounds.
That said, the Ten Series sits along with this portfolio. However, it is a distinct collection that is from artisan audio makers, and the fact that Ricardo Franassovici personally curated it makes it a separate collection as well.
Also in this collection, the Metaxas & Sins’ reel-to-reel tape machines will join the power amps and preamps that are from Robert Koda, speakers by DeVore Fidelity, and Trafomatic and HSE.
Talking of which, Metaxas & Sins is formed by Kostas Metaxas. It is based in the Netherlands and is renowned for the originality and quality of the design approach.
It is also known for creating “kinetic art objects” and “high-end audio sculptures” that are as striking to the eyes as they are to the ears.
Furthermore, Kostas is a renowned product designer and artist whose collaboration with luxury brands expands well beyond audio equipment.
That includes clocks, pens, and many other things. He is also a prolific recording engineer. And he has made hundreds of live concert recordings by relying on magnetic open-reel tape.
